Can you camp near the Annapurna base camp?

Camping is allowed in the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) area, but only in designated campsites. The ABC trek is a popular trekking route in Nepal, and it is regulated by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). The ACAP has designated campsites along the trail, and trekkers are required to stay in these campsites.

If you plan to camp in the ABC area, you should bring your own camping gear or rent it in Kathmandu or Pokhara before starting the trek. It is also important to note that camping is not allowed at the base camp itself, which is a protected area. The closest designated campsites to the base camp are located in the Machhapuchhre Base Camp area, about two hours' walk from the Annapurna Base Camp.

It is essential to obtain the necessary permits and follow the rules and regulations set by the ACAP while trekking and camping in the Annapurna region. You should also be prepared for the weather, as temperatures can drop significantly at night, and there can be strong winds and snowfall during the winter months.
